We offer initial assessments on both the NHS and self-pay routes. This initial assessment must be carried out before the full assessment can take place, as the clinician requires a comprehensive history and context for the individual concerned before conducting the ADOS assessment or ADHD assessment itself. Before you come in for an initial assessment, our clinicians need to speak with you or your child and gather background medical information to see if an assessment for ASD or ADHD will be suitable.
For example, during an initial autism assessment, the clinician will look for signs of other neurological conditions, and may suggest alternative pathways such as an ADHD assessment, speech and language therapy, or occupational therapy. At Wellbeing, we are led by your requirements, so we will endeavour to address any key concerns in this initial assessment.
This initial assessment is also an opportunity to find out more about the needs of the person being assessed – if a child is coming in for an assessment, the clinician may or may not speak to them directly at this stage, but if they have particular needs that have to be accommodated in future appointments, this will be noted.
Initial Assessment with a Paediatric Consultant - £350
These can take place in person, virtually, or over the phone. We always look to accommodate the most convenient option for you, and recognise that meeting face to face can present additional challenges.
The appointment itself can take between 45 minutes to 75 minutes, although an hour is typical. The assessment will include a preliminary report containing recommendations and a medical history of the person being assessed that will inform the final report (if an ASD assessment or ADHD assessment is suitable). This is required whether you are on the NHS or self-pay route.
Should you need to cancel for any reason, a refund will be offered if we are informed 7 or more days prior to the appointment. However, there will be a cancellation fee of 25% which will be deducted from your refund total. We must be notified of all cancellations no later than 48 hours before the appointment. All cancellations made within 48 hours of the assessment will be offered a 50% refund. This includes non-attendance on the day.
